10 Things Applicants Should Know

  1. Be yourself. A cliché, maybe, but true. It'll impress us most if the application accurately reflects who you are.
  2. It's OK to reveal your weaknesses as well as your strengths. We're looking for passion, conviction and commitment, not perfection.
  3. We're interested in the depth of your involvement with your interests, not a shopping list of your achievements. Be detailed, thorough, thoughtful and reflective on the application.
  4. Save the certificates, portfolios, photos, DVDs and so on for the interview stage.
  5. Acknowledge the possibility that you may not be accepted. Only about 40 of the Canadian students who apply will be offered places in the UWC movement.
  6. Remember: this application is for all UWCs, not just Pearson College.
  7. This is not a competition. If you're applying because UWC is hard to get into rather than out of a true desire to attend, consider other options.
  8. If you want to see if you're a good fit for UWC, take a look around at the stories on the UWC school websites.
  9. If you want to see our attempt to capture the characteristics of a UWC student, go here.
  10. Start the application when it goes live in August, make yourself a note to remember!
