      21 September 2024 - 15:00 (UTC -4)

This year, the first-ever UWC Convocation will be held to extend a warm welcome to the newest members of the community: the Davis UWC Scholars who will be arriving in the New York City metropolitan area this autumn. Upon arrival, first-year Davis Scholars will be presented with a special welcome gift package.

The theme for this year's event is "Together We Change." Throughout the day, attendees will have the opportunity to hear from inspiring speakers and engage in small group discussions that highlight the power of collective action.

All members of the UWC community are invited to participate. After the main events conclude at NYU at 6 pm, the gathering will continue at the Malt House in Greenwich Village.

    • "UWC DAY 2024 - UWC Canada"

      21 September 2024 - 13:30 (UTC -04)

Join the UWC National Committee of Canada Board of Directors for a meet and greet, an exclusive screening of the documentary film Uncharitable, which will be followed by a critical and timely discussion focused on UWC today in Canada and what we hope for the future.

The Board encourages participants to bring along two people who are new to the UWC movement to help expand the community and raise awareness about this transformative educational opportunity. Those who do so will have their ticket fees waived; please email fundraising@ca.uwc.org for more information.

All proceeds from this event will go directly to the UWC NCC Emergency Fund, which is being established to support students who may face unexpected financial challenges, such as the cost of flights or sudden changes in family circumstances, during their two-year UWC journey. The goal is to maintain an annual fund of $5,000 to provide support as needed, given that offers to study in Canada rarely cover travel expenses or accommodate significant changes in financial needs partway through the programme.

The event is being hosted at minimal cost, thanks to Pearson College UWC purchasing the rights to screen the film and providing support free of charge to show the film in Toronto. A generous donor is covering the cost of the venue, ensuring that all proceeds will directly benefit the emergency fund. The UWC National Committee of Canada extends its gratitude in advance for your support and looks forward to meeting you in person.

Further details about the Emergency Fund and how to contribute can be found here.
