Friends of UWC Canada is a group of people dedicated to supporting the UWC movement in Canada. Their influence helps amplify the organization's goals through advocacy, networking and fundraising.  They make it possible for us to reach a wider audience and access the resources we need to seek, select and support Canadian students attending UWC schools around the world. Friends use their platforms, connections, and expertise to further UWC Canada’s mission of shaping our future change makers.

Commitments and Expectations

Friends of UWC Canada are expected to promote UWC within their circles and to court potential donors whenever appropriate.  They also assist with occasional requests for help, which might involve making introductions, advocating on our behalf, or other similar assistance.

We keep communications and requests to the Friends at a minimum, ideally fewer than once a quarter.  There are no meetings or other obligations other than a commitment to try to help when asked.

Friends are expected to respond to requests for help from the UWC National Committee of Canada’s board of directors and to make every effort to assist.

Friends are named on the website and are kept informed on UWC affairs via a special annual newsletter and ad hoc communications.  There are also occasional events where Friends can gather, meet and share.

How to become a Friend of UWC Canada

You are welcome to apply to be a Friend of UWC Canada if you feel you have connections, exposure or expertise that would benefit us.

We seek Friends from every region of Canada, particularly centres of government or finance.
